DIY: Popsicle Stick Hexagon Shelf

If you are interested in putting up a wall decoration in your house but don't want to buy anything from the store, here is something that is simple to do that that won't take too much time or materials: A Popsicle Stick Hexagon Shelf.

This popsicle shelf is a very simple DIY project that turns large posicle sticks into an easy and a creative home decoration!

Materials needed:

• Box of jumbo Popsicle sticks (can be bought at craft stores or target)

• Hot glue gun

• Hot Glue sticks

• Wood stain

• Large paint Brush

• Nails (optional) to hang this shelf up on the wall.

(Optional)-

Before starting, place a large piece of paper/cloth on the table when making this shelf or, if you have a tablecloth you put on the table when doing crafts, lay that over your table to prevent any hot glue or wood stain from getting on the table or the ground.

1. To start this decoration, on a large piece of paper draw out a hexagon with the side lengths matching the lengths of the jumbo posicle sticks. This will serve as your template so all of the different angles and sides will remain the same throughout the process of making this shelf.

2. Add a drop of glue to both ends of the posicle sticks and lay them down a shown, placing them right over the template. The side of the posicle stick with the glue should be facing up.

3. Next, lay three more sticks over to complete the hexagon. These sticks should now lay across the sides of the hexagon that are not covered, with the bits of glue from two of the other sides securing these new sticks.

4. Continue this previous step, glueing and layering, until your hexagon shelf is the size you’d like it to be.

5. Allow the glue to dry.

6. Using your paint brush and wood stain of your desired color, stain your hexagon shelf, making sure that you get the stain between all of the popsicle sticks.

7. After the wood stain has dried, hammer two nails into the wall that the shelf can hang from. Place anything of your choice on the shelf without placing anything too heavy in it. After all, this is your shelf and when it comes to decorating around it, it's up to you!

Now you have a great wooden and modern looking shelf made of popsicle sticks, glue, and wood stain that is a great wall decoration for any house. It is small and easy to hang but the simplicity of the shelf allows anything hanging on or around it to look great!
