DIY: Pinecone Wreath

Do You want to get into the holiday spirit but don't have time or money to look for wreaths at the store? Here is a simple DIY project that allows you to make your own wreath for the holidays without taking up too much time in your day.

This is a great project to create with a friend or by yourself because it is easy to do, doesn't create a big mess, and it's always fun when you are able to make something, like a pinecone wreath, that allows you to add your own small touches to them in order to make them unique.

Materials needed:

  • Pool noodle

  • Exacto knife

  • Duct tape

  • Brown acrylic paint

  • Paintbrush

  • Pinecones

  • Scrap piece of ribbon to hang the wreath

  • Hot glue and glue gun

  • Small pom poms (and mini ones if you would like)

1. Using a pool noodle and an exacto knife, carefully cut it to the size you want your wreath to be.

2. Using duct tape, tape the two ends together. You now have your wreath form.

3. Using the brown acrylic paint and a brush, paint over the whole pool noodel making sure to paint every spot. Paint the noodle until the natural color of the noodle can no longer be seen.

This will serve to disguise the parts that peek out between the pinecones.

4. Tie your ribbon in a loop arounf your wreath form to serve as a hanger and, using hot glue, glue it down to the wreath form (pool noodle). This is much easier to do before the pinecones are added.

5. Load up the glue gun and start gluing your pine cones all over the wreath, starting with the larger pinecones and then later filling in the open spaces with smaller ones.

If you would like to, glue the bases of the pinecones onto the form so the "petals" of all of the pinecones will be more visible and a better set up for when you will add the pom poms.

6. Once all of the glue has dried on the pinecones, start gluing pom poms of all different colors around the wreath. Add as many as you choose--- adding more will give the pinecone much more color and create a fun vibe.

The best places to place the pom poms are in the small areas that the pinecones didn't quite cover, but dont be afraid to add the pom poms on different parts of the pine cones as well!

7. Hang the wreath up in your desired location.

Now, without having to go shopping for hours in order to find a wreath of your choice, you were able to create on your own.

This wreath is a very simple project to create that manages to give a more colorful look to a room?
